Paris

Last night I enjoyed dinner and laughs at my favorite SL bistro, The Paris, with my favorite dinner companion, Dr. Otterbutt. The evening was nearly destroyed by my 30 MINUTE tardiness, but was saved by a great waiter, wine list and daily special.

We ordered a smooth Cotes du Rhone which was delicious. It paired nicely with the entrecote steak, which we learned is a cut of meat from between the 9th and 10th rib and it's sort of a ribeye/filet. It was not as tender as we have had before at The Paris, but was nestled on a bed of arugula Again, I am forever in love with sides. We also tried the Arctic Char that we had seared and then finished off in the oven served with a gorgeous arugula and fennel salad. Their classic preparation served with the daily special side. It goes to show that with a little ingenuity you can create an entirely new meal by just asking for different sides.

I am sad to admit that before this lovely event, I had a meeting at the Oyter Bar. There, we ordered a bottle of Distant Bay Pinot Noir which was half the price of the Kings Estate and pretty good. Very mellow. My guest ordered the Cioppino which none of us had ever tried before. I tasted a scallop and was thrilled to know that the tomato broth was extremely tasty. I would definitely order that again. My other guest ordered the chili. Beef chili. It was spicy and filled with green peppers.

My gluttony does not end there - oh no. I'm sure I can drum up something else today.

Our gluttony is paying off. You made the best corned beef I'd ever had. Even though you were thirty minutes late. ")
