You know when you look at someone else's life and you are surprised about how much they do? I do that all the time. How do they have time to write that novel, or energy to ski, or enthusiasm to play Go Fish? My friend Stephanie (sleepdance) is puting on a show at The Womens Art Center downtown this weekend and she brought 5 other dancers and a baby from NYC! Amazing!!
Right now, I'm looking outside watching the snow melt and thinking please don't be Spring because then I'll have to finish the paver project in the backyard that I started last summer. (enter husband's voice saying you never ever finish anything)
Glory to whoever, the washing machine is no longer on the porch or in the driveway. (cut to maestra fainting and my voice saying same thing to husband)
I also have worked at my new job for one year now and made my first huge mistake. I guess I erased an email and missed a deadline. Oops. It's not the end of the world. (just dollar signs)
I'm just trying to say yes to everything when I need to say no. That's how you get things done. But instead I just say ok to the next thing that sounds fun because my regular life isn't so fun.
Hey, maybe if I keep watching In Treatment I will completely solve all my problems. And by watching Lost I can save people from a plane crash. And by watching The Wire I can talk to P and econtrario a week before they see every episode and ruin it all. And, sadly, by watching American Idol with my kids I grow old and happy will look back at it the same way our parents remember the Beatles on Ed Sullivan and life will be greener. Or, maybe if I stop watching tv I could actually get some things done.
Nah

You're enough. I know it never seems like it--but you're one of those people who people need. You do so much for your friends and your family. If you made a resume of good friends' deeds, yours would be longer than some novels.
Comparison is the hob-gobblin of women who do too much. You do too much. Remind yourself of what you do. I think watching American Idol with the kids is great. I do it too. We need to drink wine together and remind ourselves how great we are. We're great!
I like to think that if I watch work out shows it will somehow make me skinnier...
baltimore would like to add that we hope we don't end up like thinking American Idol is ed sullivan. But it will probably be. The fact I missed 31's blog in 2 weeks is sad and i missed that I missed it. I miss it like Stockton misses Malone.
